Newquay Coastguard were alerted to reports of a man in distress on a popular Cornish beach on Saturday.

They began a search for the man who was reportedly in distress and calling for help on Crantock Beach.

Newquay RNLI searched from the sea as the Coastguard hunted along the coast path.

A spokesperson for Newquay Coastguard said "The Crews from the lifeboat spotted the male and continued observing him until he was spoken to by Police and Coastguard at Holywell Beach. The male was given advice & continued on his way."
