Men charged over robbery in Truro back in custody

A group of men have appeared before magistrates, charged in connection with a robbery in Truro.

Jewellers, Michael Spiers, was targeted last Wednesday morning.

A busy stretch of Lemon Street was cordoned off as Devon and Cornwall Police launched an investigation.

Among the charges against them are robbery, conspiracy to commit robbery and having an imitation firearm.

The men have now been remanded in custody and are expected to appear at Truro Crown Court in February.

The men charged are:

24-year-old Tomas Bakierskis, 28-year old Saulius Mickus, 20-year-old Haroldas Ivanovas, 41-year-old Andrius Buinevicius and 25-year-old Rogertas Slekaitis.

Cornwall Live reports that the men are all Lithuanian and spoke, with the help of a translator, to confirm their names, dates of birth and nationalities.

They have now been remanded in custody after appearing at Truro Magistrates Court on Monday morning.

They are expected to appear at Truro Crown Court on 15th February.
