Cornwall crash leaves cyclist with 'life-changing' injuries

Police have confirmed a crash on a Cornish back road has left a cyclist with potentially life-changing injuries.

The 44-year-old man was airlifted to Derriford after being caught in a collision with a car near Camborne.

A stretch of road between Tehidy and Halgoss was closed for four hours after it happened on Friday evening.

Devon and Cornwall Police are urging anyone who saw something at around 6pm to come forward.

A force spokesperson said: "A 44-year-old man has been seriously injured after the bicycle he was riding was involved in a collision with a car on Friday 26th January 2018.

"Officers were notified at approximately 6pm to a collision between the cyclist and a blue Volvo car which happened on unclassified road from Tehidy to Halgoss in Camborne.

"The cyclist, who is local, sustained potentially life-changing injuries and was taken to Derriford Hospital in an Air Ambulance.

"Officers from Camborne Police Station supported by the Alliance Operations Department attended the scene.

"The road was closed for four hours in order for forensic investigations to be carried out".
