Dog rescued from kitchen fire in Helston

A pet dog has been rescued from a house fire in Helston.

Firefighters from the town, Mullion and Falmouth got the shout on Monday afternoon.

A smoke alarm had gone off in a flat and there was the smell of burning coming from the property.

The fire had broken out in the kitchen.

Crews searched for any casualties but no people were inside, they did however rescue a dog from the blaze.

A spokesperson for Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service said: "At 2.43pm appliances from Helston, Mullion and Falmouth were mobilized to a report of a smoke alarm sounding in a property and a smell of burning coming from the property.

"On arrival, the crew found a first floor flat smoke logged and used two breathing apparatus to search the flat for any casualties.

"Using a hose reel jet, thermal imaging camera and two breathing apparatus a fire in the kitchen was extinguished.

"There were no persons in the property however a family pet dog was rescued from the property."
