Crews who battled a house fire in a Cornish village have been called back to the scene in under 24 hours.

The first shout to Polperro came on Friday morning and scrambled firefighters from six towns, from St Austell to Launceston.

The blaze broke out at The Warren just before 10am, but teams managed to douse the flames using jets.

A spokesperson from Polruan Community Fire Station told Pirate FM "It was difficult to get to the building".

They said: "We had to use Looe fire stations mule to take all the gear. At one point over 20 fire fighters just to get set up .

"Next door was a concern as smoke was coming out of the roof access was made and action taken to stop the spread of flames".

Fire service area manager, Kathryn Billing, tweeted: "Great work to extinguish a fire with difficult access".

She added: ""Big thanks to Critical Control for mobilising & supporting the incident ".

Crews from Polruan received their second shout on Saturday morning, along with teams from Looe and Liskeard.

A spokesperson from Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service said: "On arrival crews, discovered that the fire had reignited.

"Firefighters used one hose reel jet, a thermal imaging camera and small gear to extinguish the fire".
