Trago Mills is expanding beyond Cornwall and Devon with a massive new store in Wales.

The site at Merthyr Tydfil is almost ready to open and even has the mock medieval turrets.

Adding to its existing outlets at Liskeard, Falmouth and Newton Abbott, the new store is set to open on Saturday 21st April.

Measuring 200,000 square feet, it will be the biggest yet. To give you an idea, 200,000 square feet is big enough to fit 61 football pitches!

Trago Mills was founded over 50 years ago in the mid 1960s, by Mike Robertson and his son Bruce is its current chairman.

It currently has three stores (Liskeard and Falmouth in Cornwall; Newton Abbot in Devon) and after six decades, describes itself as remaining at "the vanguard of discount retailing".

The new store in Merthyr Tydfil will be the retailer’s first outside of the south-west and the first in Wales.

The building will come complete with warehousing, support services and administrative offices, together with internal roads and car parking.

Bosses say it will incorporate many of the retailer’s signature styles, including 17 ‘Trago Towers’.

Chairman and owner, Bruce Robertson, said: "We are delighted to announce that our grand opening will be at 9am sharp on Saturday 21st April.

"We’ve picked a weekend day so that everyone can enjoy their first day exploring and shopping at Trago!

"We’re very excited to be opening in Merthyr and look forward to welcoming one and all to our new store".
