A Cornwall festival is hoping the break the world record... for serving the most cream teas.

In true Cornish fashion, organisers of The Great Estate weekend at Scorrier House hope to help festival revellers stem those mid-afternoon hunger pangs, by hosting the biggest cream tea party the world has ever seen.

Open to all festival guests, diners will be asked to take their seats in the open air restaurant at 2pm on 3rd June 2018 for a scrumptious snack of scones, cream and jam (and we all know which needs to go first).

But to win the record, they need more than 735 people to take part.

Festival directors Ian Whittaker and Ben Hall said: "The Great Estate is filled with exciting, wacky happenings and we couldn't think of anything better than attempting to host the world's largest cream tea party within the grounds of the festival.

"Not only is it perfectly suited to the region, it will undoubtedly be great fun.

"We can't wait to give our festival fans the opportunity to take part.

"Hopefully we will break the current world record and attract well over 800 participants."

Serving freshly baked scones, clotted cream, jam and English Breakfast, guests can expect those important little touches including floral chinaware and doilies.

And supported by Rodda's, Abbotts Catering Supplies and Here Today, Scone Tomorrow, all proceeds from the cream tea party will be donated to Cornwall Air Ambulance.

It is just one part of the festival this year, which will see a number of events, music acts and eating opportunities across the weekend.

From the site's Wild Wine Club to VIP champagne bars, a Secret Gin Garden and the Woodland Silent Disco there will be food, drink and music for all tastes.

And sitting on the music bill will be festival headliner The Charlatons, alongside the likes of Craig Charles Funk and Soul Show and the Symphonic Orchestra featuring Mr Switch.

Over 13,000 people turned out for the debut festival in June 2017, with thousands expected over the weekend from 1st-3rd June 2018.
