Torrential rain has swept across Cornwall this Easter, sparking flood warnings and alerts across the Duchy.

The Met Office issued a yellow warning for heavy downpours from Sunday evening onwards.

That will remain in force until 12pm on Easter Monday, as forecasters warn of problems on our roads and railways.

A spokesperson from the Met Office said: "Heavy rain is expected to affect south-west England.

"There is a chance of travel delays or cancellations to train and bus services

"Spray and flooding will likely lead to difficult driving conditions and some road closures

"Homes and businesses could be flooded, potentially causing damage to some buildings

"Some communities may be cut off by flooded roads. Possible power cuts and loss of other services to some homes and businesses".

The spokesperson added: "Rain will become heavy and persistent for a time before easing and becoming more showery during Monday.

"20-30 mm of rain is likely widely, with 50-65 mm possible locally across exposed parts of south Dartmoor and south Cornwall".

Flood warnings remain in force for rivers across Cornwall on Easter Monday and you can read more here.
