Some homes and businesses have been hit by flooding after a day of torrential downpours across Cornwall.

Locals have posted on social media about problems in Mevagissey after what was a very wet Easter Sunday.

There were reports of water coming up through the floor of properties on Chapel Street, as the heavy rain hit.

Sharon Gay shared these photos of waves spilling over the quayside during the high spring tides.

Sharon, who comes on holiday to the area every year, told Pirate FM the water was right up to the edge of where they were staying.

At one point, a stretch of the road between Mevagissey and Pentewan had to be shut because of flooding.

"Flood wardens have knocked at all houses in the immediate area".

At 11.30pm they said: "Car park still flooded. Fire service pumping Chapel Street and The Spice Restaurant", adding "everyone seems OK - back to bailing out".
