Firefighters scrambled to three car fires in one morning

Firefighters in Cornwall have been scrambled to three car fires in just one morning.

It started when crews from Delabole were called to the A39 at Davidstow just before 7am on Thursday morning.

The vehicle was found well alight and the team put the blaze out with jets.

A spokesperson said: "One appliance from Delabole was mobilised to this incident, on arrival the crew found the vehicle well alight, firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used two high pressure hosereel jets to extinguish the fire."

A crew from Bude then got a shout to a trailer alight on County Road at Upton just after 9.30am.

A spokesperson for Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service said: "Cornwall Fire and Rescue service received a call from a member of the public reporting a trailer on fire on County Road, Upton.

"One pump from Bude Community Fire Station was immediately mobilised by Critical Control.

"On arrival the officer in charge confirmed the fire was out on arrival and the crews checked for hotspots."

A team from Newquay then got called to the A392 near the Trevemper roundabout just before 10.20am.

A car was alight and it was causing big traffic trouble in the area.

A spokesperson added: "Cornwall Fire and Rescue service received a call from a member of the public reporting a vehicle fire on the A392, Newquay.

"One pump from Newquay Community Fire Station was immediately mobilised by Critical Control.

"On arrival the officer in charge confirmed the vehicle was well alight.

"Crews extinguished the fire using two breathing apparatus under stage one and two hose reel jets. Crews closed the carriageway for fire fighter safety.

"The carriageway has now been reopened and the incident was left safe and in the hands of the owners."
