UPDATE: Arrest after 'assault' in Plymouth

A suspected assault in Plymouth has left a man in hospital.

Police say the victim in his 20s is in Derriford with serious injuries, but they are not thought to be life threatening.

It is after he was targeted on Crozier Road just after 8am on Monday morning.

A 26-year-old local was arrested and released under investigation.

A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said: "Police and ambulance were called to an address in Crozier Road, Plymouth, at 8.20am today [9th April] following reports that a man had been seriously assaulted.

"On arrival they found a man in his 20s with a number of lacerations to his body.

"The man has been taken to Derriford Hospital with injuries described as serious but not life-threatening at this time."

They later added: "Police arrested at 26-year-old man [no fixed abode, Plymouth] on suspicion of assault GBH.

"He has been released under investigation pending further enquiries."
