BREAKING: Man fighting for life after A30 crash

A man has suffered life-threatening injuries after a serious crash on the A30.

Emergency services were scrambled to Indian Queens just after 7am during the Friday morning rush hour.

A Landrover had collided with the central reservation on Highgate Hill.

Drivers are being urged to avoid the area and the road is closed eastbound.

A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said: "Emergency services are currently at the scene of a serious collision in St Columb.

"Police were called just after 7am with reports of a Landrover having collided with the central reservation on Highgate Hill, on the A30 in Indian Queens.

"The male driver has suffered serious, life-threatening injuries, and closures are in place at Highgate Hill whilst emergency services work at the scene.

"We ask road users to avoid the area as this route will remain closed for the foreseeable future."

They later added: "One man taken to hospital in a critical condition.

"One lane open on each side, recovery is on scene and highways are now managing the scene as they attempt to repair the central reservation, this is likely to take most of the morning.

"Thank you for your patience."

An Inrix Traffic and Travel spokesperson said: "A30 Eastbound closed due to serious accident between A39 / B3279 (Indian Queens) and A391 Truro Road (Innis Downs Junction).

"A vehicle has collided with the central reservation. The entry slip road from the A39 has also been closed and a lane closure has been implemented on the Westbound carriageway to assist.

"Diversion - Lorries to follow the Solid Circle symbol via the A39 to the A389, then re-join the A30 at Bodmin. Light Vehicles follow the Solid Triangle symbols via A39 to A3059 and re-join A30 at Victoria."
