A pedestrian has suffered potentially life-threatening injuries after a suspected hit and run in Penryn.

The A39 was closed at Kernick Road after the collision near Asda.

Police say a local 41-year-old man was involved in the collision and that the vehicle involved didn't stop.

Officers launched an appeal and they say the suspected vehicle has now been located.

The driver is helping them with their enquiries.

Anyone who saw what happened in the early hours of Saturday morning is still being urged to come forward.

A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said: "A male pedestrian has been seriously injured following a collision on the A39 near the Asda stores on Kernick Road industrial estate on Saturday 14th April 2018.

"Police were notified at around 4.20am of a collision between a pedestrian and a vehicle.

"As a result of the incident, the pedestrian, a 41-year-old local man, sustained potentially life-threatening injuries.

"Enquiries were carried out to locate the vehicle involved after it had failed to stop at the scene.

"Both the driver and the vehicle suspected of being involved in the incident have since been located and the driver is assisting police with their enquiries."

Anyone with information is asked to contact police via 101@dc.police.uk or by calling 101, quoting log number 142 of 14/04/18.
