A special bar has opened just for dogs at a Cornish pub.

Staff at The Crumplehorn Inn and Mill in Polperro, south east Cornwall, came up with the idea to glitz their water bowls up for their four-pawed guests.

Now dogs of all shapes and sizes can have access to fresh water in the hot sun.

And staff are even advising them to drink responsibly!

Ashley Williams, manager, said: "A few weeks ago my dad came up with the idea because we get a lot of dogs passing through.

"We had an old crate and one of the guys that works here knocked it up.

"The village is really popular with owners, so now the dogs can have a drink when the sun's out and we've put a box of biscuits next to it.

"It's gone down really well."

Cornwall is known for being a hotspot for owners and their dogs, thanks to miles of stunning coastline and outdoor space.

And Ashley says it would be silly not to make sure they are thought about too.

He said: "You see 60-odd dogs going past in the day and the pubs are full of them.

"All the pubs in the village take them.

"One of our friends is actually opening up a little dog house deli and bar in the village in the next few weeks as well, selling dog beer and ice cream and what have you.

"It's quite a dog-orientated area."

It isn't the first time a business has come up with an innovative idea to hydrate their doggy friends but Ashley and his team wanted to make sure everyone was thought of.

He said: "You've got the little step on the first bit with a smaller bowl, as well as the bigger one with the bigger bowls too.

"It's been really good, loads of people have mentioned it and said what a good idea it is.

"We've had lots of people taking photos with their dogs outside with it as well."

He added: "So many people come on holiday with them and people staying with us, residents come down with them.

"It would be mad really to not have them.

"I think everyone enjoys a dog, it's always nice to have a nice dog in the pub when you're working."
