There have been reports of drivers doing u-turns after a crash blocked a busy stretch of the A30.

Police held the traffic after five vehicles were caught in the collision at Chybucca.

It happened at around 11.30am on Monday, sparking big delays between the turning for Shortlanesend and Chybucca.

An ambulance was scrambled amid reports of one person complaining of neck pain, but no-one was seriously injured.

Julie was stuck in the tailbacks and emailed Pirate FM she saw several drivers doing u-turns.

She said: "I was sat in the traffic following that accident, as were many others.

"We were patiently waiting in turn for the police effectively controlling the traffic.

"I was shocked and surprised that there were not more accidents with people, again, doing u-turns; some in front of the cars coming from the west".

Commenting on Pirate FM's Facebook page, Dianne said: "We were caught up in it as well and a male driver did a u-turn.

"I was so shocked as cars were coming towards him. I did voice my thoughts and put my hands over my eyes as I thought he was going to be hit but he was lucky; he could have caused another accident".

At the time, a spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said: "Police were called to a five-vehicle collision on the A30 at Chybucca, Truro, reported at 11.30am on 14th May".

It closed the westbound carriageway and the spokesperson added: "An ambulance is on its way and one person is complaining of neck pain".
