Cornish firefighters rescue deer trapped in railings

This is the moment firefighters in Cornwall rescued a deer with its head trapped in railings.

Crews from Falmouth were scrambled on Tuesday morning, after a call from Penryn train station.

Police managed to hold the poor animal still as vets gave it a light sedative and the team worked it free.

Posting on Facebook, Falmouth Police said: "This morning officers from Falmouth were called to Penryn train station where a deer had managed to lodge its head in a fence and was trapped.

"On arrival the animal was very distressed and had to be held and calmed by officers to avoid further injury.

"A vet was called to sedate the deer and Falmouth fire crews attended to cut the fence.

"The deer was eventually freed and after a check over by the vet was released back to the wild".

We do love a happy ending!
