Pedestrian dies after crash on A30 near Redruth

A pedestrian has died after a crash that closed a busy stretch of the A30 in Cornwall.

The collision involving a van happened between the Avers and Scorrier junctions.

The eastbound stretch was shut after it happened in early hours of Saturday morning.

Devon and Cornwall Police received the initial call just after 1.15am but have since confirmed the road has reopened.

Diversions were in place and officers had warned drivers heading out of west Cornwall to avoid the area.

Highways England tweeted: "If you're travelling eastbound out of , be aware have closed the carriageway at Avers roundabout A3047 near Redruth due to an incident. Local diversion in operation".

First thing on Saturday, Highways England tweeted: "Heading out of this morning? Please be aware the eastbound is CLOSED between the junctions nr due to a serious collision.

" are on scene conducting collision investigation work, likely to remain closed until at least mid-morning".

However, just after 8.30am they posted to say investigation work was complete and the road had reopened.
