A Royal visit for the Royal Cornwall Show

The Royal Cornwall Show will be getting a Royal visit this year.

The Princes of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall will make a stop during the three-day event next month.

Charles and Camilla will be welcomed on the first day - Thursday 7th June.

His Royal Highness first visited the Royal Cornwall in 1970 and was last at the show in Wadebridge, when he was also joint President of the show with the Duchess of Cornwall, in 2010.

He has been the patron of the Royal Cornwall Agricultural Association, the charity that organises the Royal Cornwall Show, since 2002.

As part of their tour of the event their Royal Highnesses will attend The Prince's Countryside Fund Parade that will take place at the show.

This special celebration of the Prince's contribution to the countryside, environment and rural communities in the UK will be held in the show's main ring.

In total, 70 patronages will come together in a unique and colourful parade highlighting their work and achievements to date.

The event, which will mark His Royal Highness's 70th birthday, will showcase broad themes including wildlife and conservation, native breeds, food and farming, and heritage and skills.

The parade is being organised by the Prince's Countryside Fund, a charity established by The Prince of Wales in 2010 which aims to enhance the prospects of family farm businesses and the quality of rural life.

Secretary of the Royal Cornwall Agricultural Association, Christopher Riddle, welcomed the announcement.

He said: "It is an immense honour to welcome The Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall to the Royal Cornwall Show this year and it will be a real highlight of the event.

"We are particularly privileged to be hosting The Prince's Countryside Parade which is such a significant national celebration of the countryside and will be a truly memorable occasion."
