The mum of a disabled schoolboy from Redruth is suing Flambards over its toilets.

Adam George needs a hoist, changing table and more space when he goes to the loo.

The 11-year-old's family say the ones at the theme park doesn't meet his needs.

It means they have to hire a mobi-loo every time they visit, which costs hundreds of pounds.

Rachel says a special 'Changing Places' toilet would make all the difference.

She told Pirate FM: "He's a bit of a thrill-seeker, he loves to move, to be challenged, to experience life, he's got a great circle of friends, he just wants to enjoy life, he's an 11-year-old boy.

"And actually when access to a toilet is the only thing stopping you from living a great life, things need to change."

She added: "It would mean he could wake up, decicded he fancied going to Flambards for the day, and we could go.

"As it is, I have to arrange it several weeks in advance, contacting mobi-loo and hiring them, you don't know if someone's going to be poorly, if it's going to be pooring down with rain, we should have the same flexibility that everyone else has."

Flambards says its already adjusted and is improving its facilities.

A spokesperson said: "Mrs George and Adam her son having been visiting Flambards for several years and we have been informed it is one of his favourite places to visit.

"As Adam has grown his requirements regarding toilet facilities have changed and Mrs George brought this to our attention only recently.

"We have worked very closely with CAAP (Cornwall Accessible Activities Programme) in order to make adjustments which would be suitable not only for Adam but for people with a wide range of disabilities.

"We have installed a fully adjustable changing bed and a hoist in a dedicated room in addition to disabled facilities .

"We have over 4000 disabled and carers visit each year and to date we have had only one complaint that we do not have a changing places toilet and have received much praise for the efforts we are making to help improve the visit for our disabled guests and their families and aim to make the park as fully inclusive as possible.

"Mrs George as representative of Adam has instigated legal proceedings and a claim for financial compensation so we are unable to comment further on this matter."
