Crowdfunder launches after a fatal crash on Cornwall's A38

A Crowdfunder has launched to help the grieving family of a young man who died on Cornwall's A38.

Andrew Payne lost his life after a crash at Tideford on Monday 4th June.

It was the third fatal collision on the road between Bodmin and Plymouth in the space of a month.

Now friends are trying to raise £4,000 to give the man described as a 'cheeky legend' a good send-off.

They upped the initial target after the Just Giving page was flooded with donations from locals who knew him.

Lorna Hooper set it up, posting: "As most of you are aware earlier this week the world lost a cheeky little legend, taken far to soon.

"I cant begin to imagine the pain, hurt and heartache the family are going through at the minute.

"Many have asked about a just giving page and so many of you have said you would like to help.

"I have spoken with Jenna and both Jenna and Becky have said this Just Giving page would be a lovely idea and help out in such a difficult time.

"So, dig deep guys and lets give Andrew the send off he so deserves".

Pirate FM understands Andrew had worked for the Royal Mail for 10 years and was a passionate footballer.

People have been leaving messages of support, including Melanie who commented: "I had the pleasure of working with Andrew.

"So very sad to hear this news, he was a genuine decent guy. Thoughts are with his family xx".

Rachel posted: "Good luck with the crowdfunding. Unfortunatly, as a family, we know what its like to lose someone so young and in the same tragic circumstances and totally feel all your pain.

"The world stops turning but knowing you have so many wonderful friends and lovely messages of support does help too.

"Keep up all the good work with raising money and we are thinking of you all. God bless xx".
