A grenade has been discovered in garage in Hayle.

Police say a resident was clearing out when they found the device.

Experts think it was live and possibly from World War II and was disposed of in a controlled explosion.

A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said: "Police were called this morning by a resident in #Hayle who had discovered a rusty grenade during a garage clear-out.

"EOD attended and believe it was a live American grenade possibly from WW2.

"The grenade was taken to Hayle Estuary and was disposed of via a control explosion."
