LISTEN: Cornwall sings for Grenfell one year on

Cornwall stops to remember the victims, a year after the devastating tower fire in London.

Pirate FM is holding a minute's silence at midday on Thursday, as nearby blocks are lit green for Grenfell.

It comes after choristers from Truro Cathedral released a single to support the survivors.

The track is raising money for the Duchy charity that has already arranged hundreds of holidays for famililes and firefighters.

Esme Page founded Cornwall Hugs Grenfell and said: "The Cornish people have just been tremendous from the Penlee Lifeboat to people taking them out on boat cruises and paddleboarding.

"What we hope is that either by listening to the song or singing it, it will be a great vehicle for the nation to stand in remembrance in that way".

She added: "I think something really beautiful can come out of what is really the most hideous tragedy and I think Cornish people have really connected with that".

‘Grenfell From Today' is as an expression of remembrance and solidarity for those affected by Grenfell tower fire.

The song is also a celebration of the community spirit that blossomed in the wake of the fire, in London and further afield.

Based on ideas from Cornwall Hugs Grenfell and offered in time for the anniversary of the fire on June 14th and #GreenForGrenfellDay on June 15th, the song is supported by Grenfell United.
