What looks like a very 'overfilled pothole' has appeared on a busy road in the centre of Newquay.

The surface on Beacon Road, near the turning to Fistral beach, seems to have been left with a big bump.

Photos of the area have been shared to Facebook after an apparent concrete spill on the road.

But it looks rather like a very big pothole which has been covered up.

Jon Gough posted on the Newer Newquay Facebook page: "I think they may have overfilled this pothole on Beacon Road."

But he later revealed what had actually happened.

He added: "To be fair, it was a mixer going up the road to the headland but had to stop due to a car in front of him.

"Unfortunately at that moment the concrete inside surged and squirted out."

Cornwall Council told Pirate FM that it was not related to any work carried out by themselves or Cormac.

They added: "We received a report of a concrete spillage yesterday and arranged for it to be cleaned up shortly after."
