A new domestic abuse service for Cornish children

A new domestic abuse service for Cornish children

A Cornish charity that supports survivors of domestic abuse is launching a new service for children.

True Butterflies helps victims rebuild their lives through trained online mentors.

Now that support is being extended to youngsters through a new service called Wings.

Director Angela Lowe set up the charity after fleeing an abusive relationship with her children.

"They may not want to open up to the parent that's been through this because they might not want to upset them or anything.

"Just having someone else to listen to them, to offer them support and some understanding is really important, definitely.

"As adults, we know that we need to go and get some help but a child doesn't realise that.

"Having that support system there and being able to talk through things will hopefully decrease the affect it has on them and give them a more successful rate of actually coming through the other side".

The new service is expected to launch in August and you can read more about True Butterflies here.
