A man has died after being found unconscious at the side of the road in a Cornish village.

A Coastguard team was paged after the man was discovered near St Keverne playing fields.

Crews carried out CPR, along with co-responders from Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service.

Posting on Facebook, Porthoustock Coastguard Rescue Team said they were paged to set up a helicopter landing site.

"A member of our team was alerted to a casualty outside of their home who was unconscious on the side of the road.

"On assessing the casualty it was found they were not breathing nor had a pulse.

"With the ambulance under way, the team member started CPR using a near by defibrillator.

"Shortly after the local fire co-responders arrived, they all continued CPR.

"With this in mind, the ambulance asked the Coastguard ops room to task Rescue 924 while the remainder of the team were paged to land in a nearby football field.

"Whilst some members went to land R924, other team members continued to help with CPR until the casualty was placed onto awaiting ambulance to be transported to hospital".

They added "our thoughts are with family and friends at this time", after it was confirmed the man later died.
