A car passenger has allegedly been stabbed multiple times in an 'unprovoked attack' in Plymouth.

Police say a group of men wearing balaclavas targeted the victim as he got out of the vehicle.

The man in his 20s suffered stab wounds and was taken to hospital after it happened in Southway.

Officers are urging anyone who saw what happened at around 11pm on Friday night to come forward.

"It’s believed that the victim was travelling as the passenger in a grey ford Focus, which was followed by a dark BMW and a silver Ford.

"As he has exited the vehicle on Langley Crescent, a group of three men wearing balaclavas, have assaulted him and attacked him with a bladed weapon.

"The victim was stabbed multiple times causing serious injuries to the abdomen. He was taken by land ambulance to Derriford hospital to receive urgent treatment for his injuries; where he remains in a critical but stable condition.

"I want to urge anyone who either saw the incident, the cars involved, or has any information about the incident to get in touch with police".

Detective Inspector Paul Weymouth

Devon and Cornwall Police added that "enquiries are ongoing to locate the offending vehicles and occupants".

Anyone who witnessed the incident and has any information is asked to contact police on 101@dc.police.uk or call 101 quoting CR/057803/18.
