Crash closes busy road in south east Cornwall

A crash involving a van and a motorbike has closed a road in south east Cornwall.

The A388 was closed in both directions after the two vehicles hit and it was affecting traffic between Callington and Launceston.

The biker has been taken to hospital but their injuries are not thought to be life threatening.

Officials have confirmed that the road has now re-opened.

A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said: "Police were notified at around 1pm to reports of a collision between a van and a motorbike on Launceston Road in Kelly Bray.

"The motorcyclist has been taken to Derriford hospital but their injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

"Road closures were put in place."

Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service added: "An appliance from Callington Community Fire Station attended to a report of a vehicle collision.

"On arrival the crews made the scene safe and assisted ambulance."
