Schoolgirl injured in suspected 'hit and run'

A schoolgirl has been injured in a suspected hit-and-run in the centre of Perranporth.

Police say the 11-year-old was clipped by a car on the zebra crossing outside the old Lloyds bank.

She suffered an injury to her shoulder.

The driver then reportedly sped off when it happened after school on Tuesday afternoon.

Officers are investigating and want anyone with any information to get in touch.

A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said:

"Police were called to reports of a road traffic collision involving a car and a pedestrian on Boscawen Road, Perranporth, on the afternoon of Tuesday 3rd July.

"An 11-year-old girl was clipped by a car while she was on the zebra crossing outside the old Lloyds Bank.

"It was reported to us that the car came round the corner at speed and clipped her back, injuring her shoulder.

"The driver was male and the small black car then sped off."

Police are investigating and anyone who witnessed the incident is asked to contact officers via 101@dc.police.uk or by phone on 101, quoting log number 0771 of 03/07/18.
