Appeal to find missing man who may be in Cornwall

Published by Sarah Yeoman at 12:50pm 5th July 2018.

An urgent appeal has gone out to try and find a man who has been missing for almost 18 months - and may be in Cornwall.

John Ferris disappeared from his home in the Beeston area of Nottingham in February last year.

The 55-year-old is known to have visited the Duchy before and officers want to speak to anyone who might have seen him.

He is described as white, 5ft 10ins tall, of a thin build with a shaven head with stubble.

It is important to note his appearance may have changed significantly.

He normally wears an outdoor jacket in grey or blue and denim jeans. He may also have a pedal cycle with him.

Nottingham Police Chief Inspector James Wooley said: "John, we want you to know you are not in any trouble and your friends and family are deeply concerned for you. They, like us, would just like to know you are safe. Please pick up the telephone and give us a call.

“We have had calls from the public and we appreciate all those coming to us with information, however, there have been no confirmed sightings since he was reported missing.

"His disappearance is very out of character and he has never been reported missing before.

"John was a qualified engineer and it is thought he may be doing jobs of that nature. We would urge farmers and anyone with agricultural equipment to remain alert as John would be well suited to maintaining and mending this type of machinery."

Police released a new photograph in March in the hope it would help lead them to his current whereabouts.

Anyone who has information is asked to call Nottinghamshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 330 of 22 February 2017.
