Woman in hospital after 'incident' on Cornish train

A woman has suffered potentially life-changing burns after a so-called 'incident' on a train in Cornwall.

British Transport Police are investigating after it happened on a service between Plymouth and Penzance.

The woman in her sixties was rushed to hospital on Tuesday afternoon.

Anyone who saw what happened is being urged to contact officers.

A spokesperson for the British Transport Police said: "We are investigating an incident on board a Plymouth to Penzance train yesterday.

"At around 3.15pm, a woman in her sixties was taken to hospital with severe burns.

"Her injuries are believed to be potentially life changing.

"Officers are making enquiries into the circumstances of this incident.

"Were you on the train? Did you see anything? Call us on 0800 40 50 40 or text us on 61016 if you have any information which could help the investigation, quoting 682 of 9th July."
