PHOTOS: Fire in derelict Newquay hotel

Firefighters are tackling a blaze in a derelict hotel in Newquay.

Crews from the town and Perranporth were called to the Edgcumbe on Narrowcliff Road.

They got the shout to the four-storey building just before 4.30am on Friday morning.

Firefighters are still on the scene using hose reels, jets and a thermal imaging camera.

A Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "At 4.28am this morning calls were received reporting a fire in a derelict property.

"Two fire appliances and the aerial ladder platform were mobilised from Newquay Fire Station.

"As soon as the first appliance arrived on scene it was decided to mobilise a further fire appliance from Perranporth Fire Station to assist in firefighting.

"The four story building measures approximately thirty meters by twenty meters.

"Firefighters are using four breathing apparatus sets, two hose reels, one main jet, one ladder and a thermal image camera."
