10-year-old girl dies after tragedy on farm

A 10-year-old girl has died after a tragic incident on a farm in south-east Cornwall.

Police were called to reports of a youngster being thrown from a quad bike in Looe, which had overturned.

Lily McCormick from Liskeard was airlifted to Derriford on Sunday evening, but tragically died a short while later.

She suffered serious head injuries and although police are investigating, they are not treating her death as suspicious.

The male rider of the quad bike was treated for minor injuries and the Health and Safety Executive has been informed.

Family and friends are said to be devastated and wearing red ribbons around their wrists as a tribute; Lily's favourite colour.

A candle has been lit at St Neot Church in her memory and a fundraising page set up to support her family.

"Sadly Lily has gone to fly high with the angels in the sky. In her memory and to celebrate this beautiful angel and her wild and crazy personality,  this page has been set up for Lily and for her family.

"Any support you can offer will be gratefully received. We want Lily and memories of her to live on and with your help we can create something special for her.

"Lily loved red and we would love to see as many red ribbons around as we can.

"Please feel free to visit St Neot Church where there is a candle lit for Lily and memories of her. It will be there for the next 4 weeks.

"There will also be disco beads on sale, £4 for adults & £3 for children, with all proceeds going to the fund. Locations of these will be listed soon.

"Fly high Lily McCormick, forever 10 x"
