Comedian makes cream tea blunder on visit to Cornwall

When it comes to cream tea, it is jam first. Fact.

Everyone in Cornwall knows that and pretty much everyone who visits Cornwall knows that.

When on holiday in our lovely Duchy, we are sure most people stick to the Kernow rules and honour our perfect way of having scones.

Well, not everyone it seems.

Comedian and presenter Jason Manford, known best for things like 8 Out of 10 Cats and The One Show, is in Cornwall after a show in Redruth.

I do not care less about the local customs! #CreamFirst

It seems he celebrated his stand-up gig at the Regal cinema by having a cream tea in Newquay the next day. Proper Job.

However, he posted a photo to Instagram saying: "I do not care less about the local customs! #CreamFirst"

Umm, what?

His post has sparked a strong of comments as the jam or cream first debate rumbles on.

One person posted: "You dirty man!" with another adding: "Get back over the bridge!!!" and somebody else said: "Leave Cornwall right now!!

Well, he has been told.

Dawn French is not happy about it either!

Her simple response of "taxi for Jason Manford" notched up almost 700 likes and a string of comments.

Victor replied "don’t bother with a taxi I will take him across the Tamar myself", while Richard wrote "there should be a passport control at the county boundary for such heathens".

Keith added: "That's like making a swiss roll with the jam on the outside. Ridiculous. What next, anti-clockwise Chelsea buns?"

Jody responded: "No Manford. No. Do not challenge this as the answer is jam first. Jam first I tell you!"
