Air ambulance called to serious A38 crash

A stretch of Cornwall's A38, shut after a serious crash, has reopened.

The air ambulance was scrambled after the single-vehicle collision in the Glynn Valley.

Police confirmed a male driver was walking wounded after a car came off the road near Trago Mills.

However, a female passenger was trapped and is believed to have suffered extensive injuries.

The  road was closed in both directions at the Glynn Valley but the scene was cleared just before 9pm.

"This is a single vehicle collision where the vehicle has left the road.

"The male driver of the vehicle is walking wounded with shock and minor injuries.

"The female passenger is trapped inside the vehicle.

"The road was closed in both directions to allow for the emergency services to safely remove the female from the vehicle and provide treatment for her.

"The incident occured just before 5pm on Thursday August 2nd.

"Witnesses are asked to call the police on 101 and quote log number 709".

Devon and Cornwall Police

Diversions were put in place on Thursday evening, affecting traffic between Bodmin and Liskeard.

However, Highways England confirmed the road had reopened just before 9pm.
