The air ambulance has been scrambled to a crash that shut the A38 in both directions.

Pirate FM understands a car and a motorbike were caught in the collision near Saltash.

A man, believed to be the rider, has reportedly been airlifted to hospital.

The road reopened just before 2pm on Saturday but delays took another hour to clear.

Inrix reported heavy traffic back to Notter Bridge and around Burraton for an hour after the road reopened.

"Traffic returned to normal on A38 Westbound from A388 (Carkeel Roundabout) to B3271 (Carkeel).

"Not helped by an earlier accident which closed the road.

"The road fully re-opened at 13:40, after the air ambulance had been in attendance".
