One in hospital after crash on main road to Newquay

One person has been rushed to hospital after a crash on one of the main roads to Newquay.

Police, firefighters and paramedics were scrambled after a car and a van hit on the A3075.

Officers had reports of an elderly woman was trapped, just after 10am on Monday.

A stretch between Rejerrah and Goonhavern was closed for two hours.

"This is a two-vehicle RTC involving a car and a van on the A3075 at Rejerrah. Reported to us just after 10am this morning.

"Fire, police and ambulance are in attendance. Reports of one elderly female trapped.

Devon and Cornwall Police

Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service confirmed two people had to be cut free from their vehicle.

"Appliances from Newquay and Perranporth, along with the rescue tender from Tolvaddon and a wholetime officer were mobilised to reports of a two vehicle road traffic with persons believed to be trapped.

"Crash rescue equipment was used to assist the two casualties from the vehicle.

"They were then left in the care of SWAST with one casualty being transported to RCH Treliske by ambulance.

"The crews then made the scene safe".

Inrix Traffic and Travel was reporting heavy traffic in both directions, but the road has now cleared.
