Fire tears through derelict building in Pool

A huge fire has torn through a derelict building off the main road between Redruth and Camborne.

Firefighters had reports of one person still inside the building on Trevenson Road in Pool.

Crews from Penzance and Tolvaddon were scrambled after smoke was seen billowing on Wednesday evening.

Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service confirmed that when teams arrived, everyone had been accounted for.

"Appliances from Tolvaddon and Penzance have been in attendance at a building fire in Trevenson Road, Pool.

"The Critical Control Centre received numbers calls reporting smoke issuing from the building.

"Crews have reported a fire in the ground floor of a derelict building measuring approx 8M by 5M.

"Initially it was suspected a person maybe inside the building but all persons have now been accounted for.

"Crews are using breathing apparatus and hose reel jets to extinguish the fire".
