A woman has told Pirate FM the death of a young man, after a freak accident in Cornish woods, breaks her heart.

Natalie Jupp says his little brother flagged her family down as they were driving home and she carried out CPR.

25-year-old Ryan O'Carroll from Southampton was camping at Tehidy when he was struck by a falling tree.

Tributes have been paid to the holidaymaker, who was rushed to hospital over the weekend but later died.

"I obviously checked for a pulse. It was clear that he wasn't with us. He wasn't breathing and had no heartbeat so we rang the emergency services.

"We struggled to get the tree off between the four of us. The emergency services had come just as we'd moved the tree.

"I started CPR. The emergency crew had arrived and the critical care unit had arrived so I just continued resuscitation alongside the paramedics.

"The scene was absolutely horrific. The fear for the little boy being on his own just breaks my heart; it breaks my heart".

"It was just pure fear of I'm responsible to make sure everybody around me's safe and to try and get this guy a heartbeat; that was the only thing going through my mind at the time.

"When we found this young man, who obviously had a lot going for him and a lovely family around him, it was heartbreaking".

Devon and Cornwall Police confirmed what happened but said the death is not being treated as suspicious.

"Our thoughts and condolences are with the family and friends of the young man who has sadly lost his life in this tragic incident which happened outside of the designated camping area at Tehidy Country Park".
