Teenager injured after jumping from rocks in Cornwall

A 13-year-old boy is injured after a jumping from rocks in south-east Cornwall.

Looe and Tamar Coastguard rescuers were scrambled to Rame Head, amid reports of a lad complaining of back pain.

It is believed the youngster was coasteering and landed awkwardly in the water.

The Plymouth lifeboat was also scrambled to the Eastern Geer area on Wednesday morning.

Crews plucked the casualty to safety, before evacuating him to a waiting ambulance.

It is understood the teenager, who was plucked to safety by Plymouth lifeboat, was coasteering when he landed awkwardly in the water

"The Looe CRT were tasked to support Tamar Coastguard Rescue Team CRT and Plymouth Lifeboat Station after receiving reports of an injured 'coasteerer' in the Rame Head area.

"The casualty had reported severe back pain after landing awkwardly in the water and was ultimately evacuated via the Plymouth lifeboat to an Ambulance tasked to the Plymouth Lifeboat Station.

"Everyone involved wishes the young man a speedy recovery".

"Team tasked this morning along with Looe Coastguard rescue team and Plymouth lifeboat to a 13-year-old male who had suffered back pain whilst jumping from rocks at Eastern Gear, Rame Head.

"Once on scene the crew form the lifeboat launched their Y class to reach the casualty.

"The casualty was then taken aboard Plymouth Lifeboat and taken to their boathouse to RV with an ambulance.

"We would like to wish him a speedy recovery".
