Two 12-year-old boys, angling close to a harbour in Marazion, have been cut off by the tide.

The alarm was raised after the pair were spotted on a rock at around 8pm on Thursday evening.

Penlee Inshore Lifeboat and Penzance Coastguard Rescue Team worked together to help them to safety.

Coastguard rescuers say crews had to negotiate a channel to reach the boys.

"The Penlee ILB demonstrated excellent seamanship skills to be able to pluck the boys off the rock".

The team added that the boys had become unaware of their situation while angling.

Penlee Lifeboat team said the boys were hauled onto the boat and taken to the harbour to be checked by medical teams.

There were no injuries and the boys were able to go home.

Commenting on Penlee Lifeboat's Facebook post about the shout, Russell Ahearne said:

"I was the person who stumbled upon the kids and called this in and can't praise those involved enough for the speed in attending and executing the rescue.

"Made for an eventful 'let's take some sunset photos' stroll. Thanks guys".

The lifeboat team added: "Your prompt actions led to a happy ending".

If you see someone you think is in trouble on the coast or at sea, call 999 and ask for the Coastguard.
