Reports of people trapped by fire in Newquay

Firefighters have rushed to a burning building in Newquay amid reports of people trapped.

When they arrived on Monday, they found smoke billowing from the property on Tower Road.

Crews from the town and Perranporth got the call just before 12.30pm, but everyone made it out.

Teams wearing specialist breathing kit used hoses and jets to douse the flames.

"The Critical Control Centre received an emergency call regarding a property fire, persons reported.

"Two appliances from Newquay, and one from Perranporth were immediately mobilised to the incident.

"On arrival, crews discovered smoke issuing.

"Two breathing apparatus, one hose reel jet and one covering jet were used.

"All persons were accounted for".
