Searches along coast for 'high risk' missing man

Searches have been carried out across Hayle and St Ives for a high risk missing man.

Officers were concerned for his welfare and were called in on Wednesday evening.

The rescue helicopter and coastguard teams were also scrambled to scour the coastline.

The man was found and taken to hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

"Police were called at around 6:30pm following concerns for the welfare of a man in his 30's from Hayle.

"Localised searches took place with support from the coastguard and NPAS helicopter.

"The man was later located in St Ives and was treated by paramedics at the scene before being taken to hospital at around 11pm.

"His injuries are not life-threatening."

"At about 8.40pm yesterday evening we were tasked by Falmouth CGOC to help the police search for a high risk missing person in the area of Mexico Towans and the Hayle Estuary.

"Our search teams combed the area of foreshore between Riviera Sands and the Hayle River up to the Harbour Master's office.

"At about 10.20pm the person we were searching for was spotted by the Coastguard helicopter at low tide by water's edge near Riviera Towans holiday park.

"The casualty was left in the care of the police and the ambulance service."
