Person rescued after getting stuck up scaffolding

A person has been rescued after getting stuck up five-metre-high scaffolding in St Austell.

They suffered a back spasm and weren't able to move a Trethurgy.

Crews from the town and Tolvaddon were called to the scene on Monday evening.

The casualty had to be stretchered down and was then treated by paramedics.

"Cornwall Fire and Rescue service received a call from a South West Ambulance Service requesting assistance to rescue a person who was stuck on scaffolding in Trethurgy, St Austell.

"One pump from St Austell Community Fire Station was immediately mobilised by Critical Control along with a whole time officer.

"On arrival the officer in charge confirmed on person approximately 5 meters high on the second level of scaffolding, who had become immobile due to a back spasm.

"The line rescue tender and one additional pump from Tolvaddon Community Fire Station were requested to assist crews.

"Crews assisted Ambulance to successfully lower the person on a stretcher to the ground and was left in the safe hands of the South West Ambulance Service."
