A man and woman have been seriously injured in a collision near Fowey on Saturday August 25th.

The incident happened at around 11:25pm on the A3082 Four Turnings, Fowey, when a white Peugeot collided with two pedestrians as they walked along the side of the road.  The car failed to stop.

A 42-year-old man from Liskeard was taken to Derriford Hospital by helicopter with multiple life-threatening injuries and a 43-year-old woman from Looe was taken to Derriford Hospital by ambulance with serious injuries and has since been released.  The man's condition is described as critical but stable.

The 28-year-old female driver of the vehicle was located shortly afterwards and arrested on suspicion of driving whilst over the alcohol limit.  She was taken into custody and later released under investigation pending further enquiries.  Her vehicle has been seized by police.

The road was closed for four hours whilst emergency services were on the scene dealing with the incident.

Police believe a BMW taxi with passengers was travelling behind the Peugeot and may have seen the events unfold.  Officers are appealing for the driver and passengers to get in touch.  They're also appealing for any other witnesses or anyone with information to get in touch with them by e-mailing 101@dc.police.uk or calling 101 and quoting log 1183 25 August.
