Girl 'grabbed by stranger' in Bodmin

There are claims a teenage girl has been grabbed by a stranger in broad daylight in Bodmin.

Her mum has put out a warning on Facebook after it happened on Friday afternoon.

The 14-year-old was on Northey Road when a man allegedly grabbed her arm and pulled her hair.

She managed to push him away and run off and police have been told.

Nic posted on Facebook: "Warning to girls/women in Bodmin!

"This afternoon at 5:30pm my daughter was physically grabbed by a middle aged man wearing a blue jacket on Northey Rd. He grabbed her arm and pulled her hair.

"Unlucky for him, she's got a fierce streak and she pushed him away.

"After warning him for the second time to leave her alone, she punched him in the jaw and ran to her friends.

"We have reported this to the police. If you saw anything or have any information, please call 101 stating CR/080037/18.

"Please warn your teenagers. My daughter is 14."

The post has already had more than 500 shares and a string of comments.

"Police are investigating an assault on a 14-year-old girl on which took place on Northey Road, Bodmin at around 5.30pm on Friday 31st August. 

"A man described as being in his late 40's - early 50's around 5ft 5in tall wearing a navy jacket and blue jeans grabbed the teenager by the arm.

"The girl managed to free herself and run away; she was shaken up but unharmed."

"Police are appealing for witnesses, anyone who can assist is asked to contact 101@dc.police.uk quoting crime reference CR/080027/18."
