'Armed police' descend on Falmouth

A man carrying a broken bottle and making threats has scrambled police to Falmouth.

Locals reported seeing armed officers surround an area on Boslowick Road and a stretch was sealed off.

Devon and Cornwall Police have confirmed a taser was fired and a man in his 20s was arrested.

It happened early on Monday evening and a man remains in custody, waiting to be questioned.

"Police attended Boslowick Road, Falmouth late yesterday afternoon (Monday) following concerns for the welfare of a man in the area.

"Units attended and located a man who was in possession of a broken bottle and making threats to harm.

"Officers discharged a taser and a man was arrested".

They added: "A 27-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of making threats to kill and was taken to hospital for treatment, before returning to police custody, where he remains and awaits questioning".
