A biker has been airlifted to hospital after a crash on a main road in west Cornwall.

The man suffered injuries to his arm and shoulder after a motorbike and a car hit near Penryn.

His injuries are not thought to be life-threatening but a stretch of the A394 was closed for several hours.

That was to allow the air ambulance to land after the collision between the roundabout and Longdowns.

Devon and Cornwall Police were urging drivers to avoid the area after it sparked long delays.

"Police were called to a two-vehicle collision on the A394 at Longdown, Penryn, at 2.05pm today.

"It involved a car and a motorcycle, an Audi A3 vs Honda MC.

"The male motorcyclist has sustained a shoulder and arm injury. He has been airlifted to Treliske.

"The road is closed in both directions".

Pirate FM understands the road reopened just before 6pm, but traffic took almost an hour to clear.
