Helicopter and RNLI crews rush to medical evacuation at sea

Lifeboats and a search and rescue helicopter have rushed to help a person who fell ill at sea off Cornwall.

A medical evacuation from a yacht around a mile off Stepper Point took place on Friday afternoon.

The Rock RNLI and Padstow lifeboat were called to help the helicopter. 

There was a paramedic among the Padstow crew who transferred to the yacht. 

Rock RNLI were then tasked with assisting the yacht back towards Padstow.

"Launched this afternoon to a casualty on a yacht around a mile off Stepper Point. Asked to assist Padstow Lifeboat and the Search & Rescue helicopter with a medical evacuation.

"Padstow did a crew transfer and had a paramedic on board. We assisted the yacht back towards Padstow."
