Published by Sarah Yeoman at 2:49pm 10th September 2018.

Redruth town centre was closed off after a man climbed onto the roof of a building.

Emergency services cordoned off the town centre at lunchtime on Monday.

Police say they were concerned for his welfare as he was on top of a four-storey building.

But the man came back down of his own accord safe and well.

A 25-year-old man was then arrested on suspicion of assault.

"Police and fire were called to Fore Street, Redruth, at 12.20pm today [10th September] following concerns for the welfare of a man on a roof.

"On arrival police officers located the man on the roof of a four-storey building.

"The road was closed.

"The man came down from the roof of his own accord and climbed safely back into the property [around 12.55pm].

"A 25-year-old man was subsequently arrested on suspicion of assault on another man prior to entering the roof.

"The assault victim has been taken to hospital to be checked over."
