Line-up revealed for Looe Saves the Day festival

Line-up revealed for Looe Saves the Day festival

The first wave of acts to play the Looe Saves the Day festival have been revealed.

The town will be holding a new event after raising £30,000 in just two days.

It comes after the original festival was pulled when organisers went into administration.

Now Looe Saves the Day, made up of locals businesses and supporters, has pulled together to run an event.

However, it is still appealing for your help to raise an extra £10,000 for stuff like safety measures.

The new three-day festival will take place in the town from Friday 21st September to Sunday 23rd September.

The acts which have confirmed so far include the Huckleberry Finns who will be performing on the Friday evening; Mad Dog Mcrae, Kernow King, Falmouth Soul Sensations and King Creature who will taking to the main stage on Saturday, with The Viewers playing on Sunday.

Work is continuing to secure other acts for the programme, with exciting discussions taking place with some high profile names to headline each of the three days.

Officials will be providing information on the acts as they are confirmed - so watch this space.

A warm up event will be held ahead of the main festival on the evening of Thursday 20th September. This event, which will be used to test the equipment, is aimed at local residents.

So far Cornish favourites Company B and Black Friday have been confirmed for this night - with other names to come.

"We have been overwhelmed with the level of support we have received from bands and artists who are keen to support the festival.

"As you can imagine trying to juggle the programme to suit people's availability is a challenge but we are confident that we will end up with an incredible line up.

"Talks are continuing and we will announce further details of the programme as it is confirmed.

"In the meantime we still need to raise more money to ensure that we can provide the additional safety arrangements which were identified last week.

"If we reach our £40,000 target for this, we can then look at using any additional funding to secure other acts for the programme."

Armand Toms, Mayor of Looe and Cornwall Councillor

As well as the acts on the main stage, the festival will also see artists performing in local pubs and cafes, with buskers playing on the streets of Looe.

"The whole community is rallying round to ensure that the festival is a success.

" We are very grateful to everyone who has donated their time and money so far and, with continued support, I am sure that Looe will provide a real community event to remember".
